Triple H Equitherapy
Loves Our Volunteers
National Volunteer Week 2019
Most non-profits, such as Triple H, appreciate and need their volunteers. This National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate those generous and compassionate individuals.
Triple H Equitherapy Center is so laser-focused on keeping costs down, that it could not operate without its dedicated core of 100+ volunteers. With only 9 paid staff members (5 full-time, 4 part-time), trained volunteers provide valuable program assistance by helping clients as side walkers and horse handlers. They also help with ranch projects, special events, and countless activities necessary to keep operations running smoothly.
Last year they provided 5,000 hours of service that either directly or indirectly benefited hundreds of clients and their families. So as you can see, our volunteers are PIVOTAL to our success. They are truly the life-blood of Triple H Equitherapy Center.
Keisha Laughy, our Operations Director, had this to say about volunteers and their supporters at our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet last December:
“We not only appreciate our volunteers…we appreciate everyone who SUPPORTS a volunteer…if you’re a parent who drops off your teenager to volunteer, if you’re a spouse who does without your partner every weekend because they’re volunteering at Triple H…we appreciate all of you.
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to tackle society’s greatest challenges, to build stronger communities and be a force that transforms the world.
National Volunteer Week was established in 1974 and has grown exponentially each year, with thousands of volunteer projects and special events scheduled throughout the week.
As Keisha reminded everyone recently, according to the Independent Sector, the latest value of a volunteer hour is $24.69. This means our volunteers contributed services valued at $123,450. Thanks to their dedication, Triple H provided over 4,860 hours of therapy to 200 clients last year.
However, the services provided by our volunteers go far behind their monetary value. Our horse therapists know it. Our clients know it. We all know it. “Heart” and “soul” cannot be calculated in dollars-an-hour. Matter of fact, those critical facets of volunteerism cannot be calculated at all. And for all those reasons, our thanks to our volunteers is boundless and unending.
