Triple H Equitherapy Center's mission is to improve the health and quality of life for individuals with disabilities through equine-assisted services.
The mission is accomplished through innovative, non-traditional horseback riding lessons and equine-assisted psychotherapy designed for people of almost any age or medical condition, as young as four and with no upper age limit. The purpose is to empower each individual client to achieve their greatest potential and to live the best life possible. Their relationship with their therapy horse is the catalyst that produces change and strengthens clients in mind, body, and spirit.
Triple H Equitherapy's Response to the EHV Breakout
In light of the recent outbreak of equine herpes virus (EHV-1), our entire staff are actively implementing protective measures to safeguard our horses and maintain the health of our barn. To be clear, none of our horses have been infected, and are all well. The well-being of our animals is our top priority, and we are taking several steps to mitigate any risks associated with this virus.
One of our crucial advantages during this outbreak is the isolation of our horses. They enjoy a unique environment where they are not frequently exposed to outside horses, as we limit our hauls to public settings, only visiting the veterinarian when necessary. This isolation significantly reduces the chances of EHV-1 transmission. To further protect our horses from potential contamination via human contact, we have reached out to all of our dedicated volunteers. We have urged them to wash their hands thoroughly and wear clean clothes before interacting with our horses.
By ensuring that those who come into contact with the horses follow strict hygiene protocols, we can reduce the risk of inadvertently introducing the virus into our facility.
In addition, our farrier is a committed professional, and one of the very best in Texas, who understands the gravity of the current situation and is taking every precaution to prevent the transmission of EHV-1 in our barn. We appreciate their diligence as this partnership plays a vital role in maintaining our horses' health.
When it comes to veterinary care, we are opting to have veterinarians come to us instead of transporting our horses to clinics, even though we trust those facilities are exercising proper precautions. This approach allows us to minimize any travel-related risks our horses might face.
We remain vigilant and open to any questions or concerns from our community. Together, we will navigate this challenging time and continue to provide the best care possible for our horses at Triple H. Thank you to everyone for your understanding and support during this situation. We are grateful for all we can do together to keep our equine partners safe!
Sincerely, The Triple H Equitherapy Team
