The mission of Horses Helping the Handicapped, Inc (dba Triple H Equitherapy Center) is to provide nationally accredited therapeutic, educational, competitive, and recreational horseback riding or carriage driving programs for children and adults with disabilities in a safe Hill Country environment.

Accreditation

Triple H has been recognized as a NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) Premier Therapeutic Riding Center since 1998. All riding and driving instructors are certified by NARHA.  NARHA is the national organization that sets professional standards for the industry, certifies instructors, and accredits operating facilities.

Triple H Equitherapy programs include:

Riding to Independence:  Therapeutic horseback riding for individuals with physical, mental, or emotional challenges.

Hooves, Hearts, and Heroes:  School-based equine facilitated education for Special Education students in local school districts.

From Fear to Responsibility:  A Work-to-Ride Program: an equine assisted mental health program for troubled teenagers.

Wheels of Freedom: Sport and competitive driving for youth and adults.

HOW IT WORKS

Therapeutic horseback riding helps the physically disabled to improve posture, balance, coordination and function by using the natural movement of the horse.  Equine facilitated education uses the horse as the motivator in a living classroom to teach academics and life skills to those with learning disabilities and mental retardation.  Equine-assisted mental health programs use the horse/rider bond to assist youth with emotional or behavioral problems to build self-discipline, a sense of responsibility, and respect for others.  Driving two-wheeled carts and four-wheeled carriages builds self confidence and pride by competing on an equal basis with able-bodied peers.
